Boho Beach House: Sunny Loft Bedroom

book-nook-2.jpg

There’s a clear winner when it comes to the boldest room in the house, and it’s all due to this stunning sunburst mural. Before I get into all the details, I suggest tuning into my last couple posts on this project The Process, B&W Master Bedroom, and Seaside Living Room for some context! The posts following this one will feature the details of every other room in the house.

BEFORE

These photos were from before the renovation. As you can see, the floors were redone and the entire back wall has been enclosed! This room used to be set up like a traditional loft style where it overlooked the living room and it now acts as a true bedroom.

These photos were from when I first arrived, showing the wall newly enclosed and creating a blank canvas for me to work with.

This room became the star (or should I say sunshine) of the whole house. On that newly created wall, I painted this bright, striking sunburst mural knowing that this room will usually be host to the children of any family renting the home. I used Sherwin Williams Arrid Sands (cream) and Refined Amber (yellow), which I coated on the base color which was a light mint-blue. I don’t have the name of that paint color!

I landed on a large area rug (rug linked here in a different color) with bold stripes in yellow, mint, cream and gray, which felt gender neutral and drove the selections for everything else in the room. I used existing artwork from the clients, including the hand painted “shrimping” sign you see between the beds and the bright beach photograph you see in the nook. I lucked out with amazing matching macrame lamps (similar here), yellow patterned pillows (similar here) and throw blankets at Homegoods.

I thrifted the mini mirrors (similar here) hanging over the dresser, and. The comforters (different color linked here), fake plants, and woven lamp were from Ikea. One of the favorite finds was the small round pillow, which I sourced from a small local boutique called Dixie Cottage.

Continue following along on Instagram and TikTok for video tours, behind the scenes, and extra details of each space! Stay tuned for the rest of the room reveals this week.
