Rockin’ Retro Home Office Mural
Years before I was decorating homes or painting murals, I lived in Boston and my main form of art was creating jewelry. During that time, while I was constantly in need of new photos for my website, I met and became friends with Jules of Scarlet Roots. Jules has always been a hyper creative, joyful presence, which is why I enjoyed working with her so much. She has now become a renowned New England wedding photographer, but I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to work with her in the early stages of her career.
And now- the mural! Jules got in touch with me in March when she and her partner, Avi, were settling into a home they just purchased. They were both so excited for some custom artwork in their new house! Avi, specifically, wanted a funky, sleek, retro mural for his home office and music den. Avi plays in a band and loves having his basement space for practice, work and more, and we set out to make it really special for him.
He had some color palettes and designs in mind, so we worked together to continue to tweak the final mural choice. When we were ready to move forward, Avi and Jules were kind enough to get me from the train station in Boston and host me in their home! I worked on Avi’s office mural and another design in their guest bedroom for 2 days, mixed in with some beach time and s’mores over their backyard bonfire.
This mural was an experience I’ll never forget- since I don’t often do work for friends, it was a lovely change of pace. Especially working with a friend like Jules, who is so talented and was able to provide me with these stunning photos of the entire process!
If you’re going to work from home, you might as well do it in style! And in this space, I think we definitely achieved that.
