4 Design “Trends” to Leave in 2020

I think we can all agree that 2020 was a dumpster fire. A big pile of trash. While we' continue to move forward and forgot 2020, let’s leave some home design trends there and never look back.

1. Cheesy Wall Decor “Art”

Okay you guys know the things I’m talking about right? Need we be reminded of “Live Laugh Love” painted on wood from the early 2000s? Time to say goodbye to tacky sayings painted on wooden planks trying to be artwork. It’s not artwork.

2. Hideous Patterned Carpets

I’m not against patterns on carpets. I love patterns on carpets. But there’s tasteful patterns and then there are busy patterns. It’s important to have a delicate balance of colors and subtle patterns to make it work and still look high end.

3. Terrifying Accent Chairs

Accent chairs are a privilege, and they should be chosen wisely. If it’s not elevating your space, don’t have it at all! Tacky colored leather out of a 2005 bachelor pad or a folding fleece zebra chair from your college dorm room is not acceptable, even if you’re under the age of 22.

4. Weird Metal Artwork

That thing you saw on sale at Homegoods was in the clearance section for a reason. Wrought iron “abstract” metal decor is not artwork, it’s just a sad excuse for laziness in not looking for a properly made print and frame! Find your true style and invest in it. There is so much affordable artwork out there, we have no excuse for hanging trash anymore.
