a squiggle bathroom mural in the hamptons

This client should be no stranger to you! Seri and I have known each other for eight years and, since I began on this journey, I’ve done six amazing murals for her. This one in particular felt monumental, as Seri had envisioned it in her Long Island beach home for quite some time.

Initially we were discussing a geometric design but none of them were a full-body-yes, so I decided to take a different approach. Where I would normally look to photos of other murals, I found inspiration instead in the form of wallpaper patterns. The linear and hand-drawn look really appealed to me and ultimately to Seri as well.

The color picking process was fairly simple as Seri knew she wanted navy and white to complement the sandy color already on the walls. We went with a simple white paint and a Modern Masters Satin Sapphire paint.

I went in with a mock-up design, but also knowing that I’d have to freestyle in the room itself, as it isn’t your average space. The ceiling curves and bends around a huge skylight, creating a lot of angles and allowing for more innovation as a muralist. Luckily Seri trusts me and my process so it worked, even without exact dimensions. She was really happy with the final product, so much so she posted photos to her own IG, check them out here @littemissparty !
